Recommended Hitch for Ram 3500 Towing Coachmen Chaparral with Turn-Tec Engineering

Question:

Hi, I have a 2019 Ram 3500 crew cab 61/2 bed with 5th wheel prep pkg. We are looking at a 2016 Coachman Chaparral which has the turn tec engr. suppose to be short bed friendly for turning. Since I dont have a hitch yet, I am wondering if you could recommend one ? should I go with something like the Demco slider or be looking at changing the pin box to a revolution and be looking at a fixed hitch? Thank you very much,

The Coachmen Chaparral with Turn-Tec Engineering should allow for a fixed fifth wheel hitch to be used while making full turns so a sliding fifth wheel hitch or rotating pin box is not needed. The sliding fifth wheel hitches are very heavy so it takes more effort to get them in/out of the truck bed and the rotating pin boxes require a wedge which limits the angle you can coupler the trailer. Therefore, a fixed fifth wheel hitch will be a much better overall option for you.

I recommend the Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16046 which is a drop-in fit with no other parts needed. The Curt A-Series is actually one of my favorite options on the market as the dual interlocking jaws form a tight grip on the kingpin which aids in stability and improved ride quality. The one pin head removal system allows for one person to install and remove the hitch by themselves and there is a unique indicator system that gives peace of mind when you are coupled and ready to tow.

The Curt A-Series are also all backed by a lifetime warranty so you will be covered for the life of the hitch.
