Fit of Curt A25 and Q25 to 2021 Ram 3500 With Factory Tow Prep.

Question:

When I pull up the Curt A25 or Q25 they list as a fit for a 2021 Ram 3500 with factory tow prep. However, it also shows that the hitch is not a fit for a 2021 Iconic 5th wheel toy hauler with a gvwr of 19000. The trailer has a Lippert king pin. Im at a loss as to why the hitch is listed as not a fit.

The Curt Q25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package, # C16049 and the similar Curt A25, # C16046 are fitted to the tow vehicle, the RV being towed is not. While the fit guide will list confirmed fit products for many RV's, there is no need to do so with king pin.

The Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, # C16046 and the Curt Q25, # C16049 are both listed as a confirmed fit for the 2021 Ram 3500 because either etrailer or the Manufacturer have successfully installed the actual product on a 2021 model to verify. 5th wheel trailers vary in their build and the pin boxes attached however, the king pin itself, the connection point of trailer to hitch, is always built to an accepted industry dimension. So while the jaws of a 5th wheel hitch may vary in their design, they all mate to the same king pin dimensions.

The Curt A25 hitch is the newer version of the Curt Q25 hitch which features a stronger head unit made of a more durable material in addition to an easier removal process. The Q25 requires two pins to be pulled in order to remove the head from the legs whereas the A25 only requires one pin to be removed to separate the head from the legs. The legs for both units are the same.

The Curt A25 hitch is about 27 lbs lighter than the Curt Q25 hitch and has a more durable head unit therefore this will be my recommendation for your Ram.
