How To Install a 7-Way Trailer Connector On a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica

Question:

I have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and it was recommended that the camping trailer I buy have electric brakes. I plan to tow under 2000# so wonder about that. But, I do not see a 7 pin wiring setup available for my Pacifica. Is that offered at all? Or I could use it to charge the battery on the trailer.

The towing capacity of a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica is 1,500 lbs if you don't have the factory tow package or 3,600 lbs if you do have the factory tow package. The use of electric trailer brakes is pretty common nowadays and I recommend looking for a trailer that has them as it's going to equate to a safer overall towing experience but this is not required. I have attached parts you will need for both options below.

etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98903
T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118723 (Touring, LX) or part # 118712 (Limited, Touring L, Touring L Plus, Touring Plus)
Ball Mount Kit part # 989900

7-Way RV Upgrade Kit part # ETBC7L (If Trailer Has Brakes)
Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 (If Trailer Has Brakes)

There is not a direct plug-n-play 7-way for a Chrysler Pacifica but if you use the 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit with the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller you will not have to do any hard wiring. The two 4-ways simply plug into one another, ground the white wire, and then run the black wire up to the vehicle's battery. The Curt Echo uses your phone so the learning curve is not nearly as high as other options. The 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit will also work to charge the trailer's battery.
