Comparing Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for a Bike Rack with a 2019 Subaru Forester

Question:

Wanting to add a trailer hitch to my 2019 Subaru Forester and I like the Draw-Tite trailer hitches but I'm not sure which one would be better for me. Needing one for a bike rack.

As you have probably noted, the main differences between the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 36671 and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 76271 for your 2019 Subaru Forester is that part # 36671 has a 1-1/4" receiver while part # 76271 has a 2" receiver. Aside from that the 2" option has a higher tongue weight capacity at 525 lbs whereas the 1-1/4" option has a 350 lb tongue weight rating.

I always recommend going with the 2" receiver when it is available simply because it allows you to use a wider variety of accessories. Since 1-1/4" receivers tend to be weaker (as noted by the tongue weight ratings) there aren't as many accessories that can be used. Please note that if your Forester has a lower tongue weight rating than either of the trailer hitches you need to keep from exceeding it.

If you don't already have a bike rack I recommend the Kuat NV 2.0 # NV12G because it is built to be user friendly with how easy it is to operate, plus it has an aluminum construction that is covered with a powder coat finish and backed by a lifetime warranty so you can be confident that this bike rack will last a long time.

I have attached an installation video of the trailer hitch and a review video of the bike rack for you to check out.
