Will the Brophy Clamp On Camper Tie-Downs HSSF Fit a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500

Question:

Hi, will this install well on a 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 extended cab truck with a 6.5 ft. bed? I heard it might not work well with newer beds as it does not clamp very well? Im looking into installing a remodeled early 90ies FWC Fleet caper which weighs 690m lbs. into our truck. And I was wondering if I should go the Brophy or Happijac route. In either cases, Im looking to add new anchor points onto the camper which I can attach the turnbuckles to. Im having a hard time finding such anchor parts eye bolts?. Maybe you can recommend something? Thank you for your help!

Yes, the Brophy Clamp On Camper Tie-Downs part # HSSF will fit a 2007-2014 GMC Sierra 1500 so they will work just fine on your 2012. The tie-downs will not be able to be installed at the very front and rear of the bed but this is due to the design of your bed rather than an issue with the tie-downs. That said, the turn buckles don't need to be perfectly straight so this won't be an issue. If you don't have turn buckles, I recommend the Brophy Basic Turnbuckles w/ Hardware part # TDHP.

The HappiJac Custom Tie-Downs for Truck Bed Campers part # LC182904-182971 which are a fit for your 2012 GMC Sierra 1500 are going to be better in the long run but they also require more modifications to the vehicle so the choice is up to you.The correct turnbuckles for these tie-downs are the HappiJac Original Turnbuckles for Camper Tie-Downs part # LC182898.

The best option to install new anchor points on the camper would be to take a trip to your local hardware store but we don't have anything for this.
