Is There Specific Spacing Needed for New Brakes and the Hub/Drum Assembly
Question:
How much clearance is required between the brake coil, and the rotating drum

You want to adjust your new brake assembly, like part # 23-105-106, so that when you spin your tire/wheel you feel a little bit of drag. If you don't have any drag then your trailer braking will be weak but if you have a lot of drag then your trailer brakes will lock up with minimal power to them from the brake controller. If you are talking about the distance between the brake magnet and the drum then there isn't a specific spacing for this either as the magnet won't do anything until it receives power. Sometimes it is touching the drum after the install and sometimes it isn't but either way it won't matter.
So there isn't a specific amount of clearance since you are basically looking for the correct "feel" with the brakes. If you jump to the 8:27 mark of the attached installation video you can see how we adjust the brakes.
