What is the Amperage Draw of a Brake Magnet on a 12 x 2 Dexter Brake Assembly with Round Magnets
Question:
I need to know what is the amp draw on a single round dexter magnet. Also how is the magnet mounted to the lever that makes the brakes move, I cant see on the picture of it how it mounts.

Expert Reply:
On a 12 inch brake assembly magnet, you should be getting 3.2 to 4 max amps at 12 to 13 volts. We have an FAQ article that covers testing brakes and brake magnets that should be helpful to you. I have included a link to it.
Replacing the magnet is pretty easy. On the control arm that holds the magnet there is a spring. The hole in the magnet goes over the upright part of the arm and rests on the spring. Then, you replace the clip that holds the magnet to the arm. I made a short video demonstrating this for you.
