Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2006 Chevy Silevrado 3500 with Service Body
Question:
Hello, I own a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 4x4 with a Stahl utility body. It currently has a 2 inch receiver and hitch. I brought it to my mechanic to work on the brakes and he states I need a new hitch as the one I currently have on it is rusted. He feels safer installing a new one. He called the auto parts store and they say they dont have one. It is not factory installed as far as he knows. Do you have one that will bolt on to my truck?

The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver part # BWHDRH25187 is what I recommend for your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 3500. The B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver is a direct bolt-on fit with no drilling required so it will be an excellent replacement for what you have now.
That said, this would really be the only option we have for you as the utility body you have is going to create issues for most hitches as none of them would have been designed with this in mind so you can run into clearance issues with the body and receiver tube. However, the B&W Heavy-Duty Trailer Hitch Receiver has a low hanging receiver tube as it is designed for vehicles with deep drop tube bumpers so it will work just fine alongside your utility bed.
