Curt Front Mounted Recevier 31108 vs 31109 Fit on a 2002 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I have a 2002 Chevy SIlverado 3500, my friend has a 2008 Silverado . He has and I need a front hitch. His version shows as a 31109. Your catalog shows that I need a 31108. Your catalog photos look identical. Can I use the 31109 and if so, what modifications?

Expert Reply:
Although the hitches look very similar, the # 31109 is for the 2nd gen 2008 Silverado like your friend's, and the # 31108 if a fit for the 1st gen, like your 2002 model. The two hitches are very similar, but the # 31109 would sit 2 inches lower on your truck than the proper fitting # 31108 would. If losing two inches of ground clearance isn't a deal breaker for you, your buddy's hitch would work fine for you. I've linked you to an install video that you might find helpful.
