RockyMount MonoRail 2 Platform Rack for 2009 Honda CR-V
Question:
Our 2009 Honda crv has a 1.25 inch receiver. Are there 2 inch adapters for smaller hitches available to be able to accommodate the RKY 10004 rack?

A hitch adapter like the Brophy Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" # HTAD allows you to use the 2" shank on the RockyMounts MonoRail 2 # RKY10004 on the 1-1/4" on your 2009 Honda CR-V, but using a hitch adapter of any type reduces the tongue weight on your hitch by 50%. You'll need to check your owner's manual to confirm but you likely have a Class I hitch with a 200-lb tongue weight, so using an adapter will only allow you to carry 100-lbs total safely on the hitch. Since the RockyMounts MonoRail 2 weighs in at close to 40-lbs, when you add your bikes into the equation, you may be over the limit on your hitch; as long as you stay under the tongue weight capacity of your hitch, you won't have any issues.
If you haven't already purchased your rack, instead of the # RKY10004, go with the RockyMounts MonoRail 2 # RKY10003 , which is the same model rack equipped with a 1-1/4" shank to accommodate Class I receivers. Doing this doesn't effect the capacity of your current hitch and you'll be able to fully utilize the 120-lb total carrying capacity that makes the MonoRail 2 platform rack so attractive.
If you already own the MonoRail 2 with the 2" shank, I recommend upgrading the hitch on your 2009 CR-V to avoid getting into a situation where you're carrying a load that is too heavy for your hitch. The Draw-Tite Max Frame Round Tube # 75547 Class III hitch has a 675-lb tongue weight limit and is going to give you the capacity to safely carry your rack fully loaded without any worries. It also allows you to tow with your vehicle should the need ever arise. This hitch has a relatively easy installation that should take less than an hour and is going to provide you with the peace of mind that you'll never have to worry that carrying your bikes may damage the frame of your vehicle because the hitch is overloaded.
I've linked a video that details the installation of the hitch on your 2009 Honda CR-V if you decide to go that route.
