The SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack # 298-SX6000B are compatible with the Thule Portage Canoe Carrier # TH819 because the Portage works with round bars. When it comes to the SeaSucker technology, you will not have an issue with temperature changes as long as the rubber suction cups are room temperature when you install the rack. You don't want to try to install the rack if the rubber cups have been in freezing temps and they are stiff. They need to be pliable to gain the suction that you need to install. You also want to make sure there is not any moisture or ice build up between the vacuum cups and roof surface before installing.

According to SeaSucker a lot of customers use their roof racks for carrying their gear for extreme snow sports so they can withstand cold temperatures easily. There is not an aerodynamic (flat bar) option for the sea sucker series at this time, although I am sure there will be in the future considering Aero bars are the best option as far as wind noise is concerned.

With that being said, another great option for the GMC Sierra are the Rhino Rack Vortex Bars # RRVA150B-2 with legs # RRRLKVA and fit kit # DK377. The Aerodynamic design of the bars cut down on the wind noise and they also have a channel mount which allows you to use the Thule Portage # TH819 in the channels with adapter # 853208914 which some customers find more convenient then clamping the carrier onto the bars. Either roof rack option will work well for you.
