This is a really good question.

To start things off the Yakima FullBack 2 Bike Rack # Y02634 that you referenced is an excellent choice and is confirmed to fit your 2018 Honda Civic. I really like the SuperCush anti-sway cradles that safely secure the bikes at 3 different points and the integrated locks to help protect your investments.

Now with this or any rack on your Civic hatchback you definitely don't want to turn on the rear wipers, as they could cause damage to the rack or the wipers themselves. I looked up the owner's manual for your Civic and it also looks like the rear wipers will automatically turn on when you have the front wipers on and you put the vehicle in reverse, further adding to the anxiety of potentially turning them on accidentally with a rack attached.

The surest way to prevent this from happening is simply by pulling the fuse that's in charge of the rear wiper motor. According to the owner's manual for your Civic this 10 amp fuse can be found inside the interior fuse box (under the dash on the driver's side) in the # 3 position. Taking out this fuse will prevent the rear wipers from working.

Otherwise something as simple as putting a sticker on your wiper knob that reminds you that you have a bike rack attached might be enough.

I have included a short video demonstration on the FullBack below that you can check out as well.
