Hitch Mounted 4-Bike Rack That is Rated for Use on Motorhome

Question:

Yakima swing daddy. Just purchased this rack for use on my class A diesel pusher Motorhome, now I find out its not rated for use with Motorhome. Can you tell me why? I tow a Honda CR-V with a 2” receiver, can I use it on the towed vehicle? What is the problem with use on the Motorhome? Thanks

The Yakima SwingDaddy, along with other bike racks that are not rated for use behind motorhomes or trailers, are rated that way by the manufacturers due to the more pronounced and heavier back-and-forth and up-and-down movement that occurs on a motorhome as opposed to a passenger car. This movement creates more stress on the bike rack and manufacturers have deemed these racks unsuitable for this type of extreme movement.

What I recommend instead are the Thule Apex Swing XT # TH9027XT, Yakima LongHaul # Y02476, Swagman Quad # S64FR or Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH69XT, each of which are 4-bike racks that are rated for use behind a motorhome.

I've added links to video reviews of each rack for you to check out.
