Is It Okay for Tow Bar To Be Higher Off Ground If Level

Question:

I know around 17inch height is ideal for the hitch height for flat towing but the tow bar that I want to use is a curved style similar to the Empi 3131 Volkswagen Super Beetle Tow Bar which would put the hitch height at 25inch level on a Suzuki samurai. Would the height really matter if it is level? Thanks

The important thing is that the tow bar stays level, or more specifically stays within the "Safe Zone" which is 3 inches above or below level. As long as you are able to get the curved tow bar within this range with the height of the hitch ball on your RV the actual height is not a big deal.

To do this you will most likely need a high-low adapter like the Roadmaster # RM-048-8 on the RV. I have attached a great article that explains exactly how to choose the correct one for your setup. This particular unit provides an 8 inch rise or drop.
