Installing Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist on Split Trailer Gate
Question:
My trailer gate is split in half horizontally. Would you put the attaching wire on the end portion or the portion of the gate that is closest to the trailer?

When installing the Gorilla-Lift Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist # GL1 you will want to attach the cable to the inside portion of the gate (closest to the trailer). This is simply because you want to have it secured to the stationary side of the gate, as putting it on the outside of the gate (the side that actually flips up when folding it down) would require you to work against the tension of the Tailgate List Assist every time you unfold the gate/ramp.
I do also recommend making sure that you have at least 16 inches of length to work with from the top of the side rails on your trailer to below the hinge point on the gate. You want to have at least this distance available to allow for proper tension on the cable when installed.
