How to Fix the Gorilla-Lift Cables Coming in Contact with Trailer Gate Latches
Question:
I have a gorilla lift system on my old trailer and it has always rubbed on my trailer gate latches. I now have a new trailer and want to install the gorilla lift on it but have the same latch problem. What is available to latch my gate in the up position and not interfere with the cables?

We have a latch that will help you secure your trailer gate when it is upright and should not interfere with the cables on the Gorilla-Lift # GL1.
Redline makes a Bolt-On Stainless Steel Spring Latch # SL716SS that you can install in a vertical position on your door instead of the spring latch in your picture that is horizontal. If you install this latch vertically on the trailer ramp's edge, you should experience no contact between the latch and the cable. I recommend installing the latch above the brackets on your trailer, but if the pin sticks out far enough, you could possibly install this latch upside down on the ramp frame. It might be a little more difficult to operate the latch if it is upside down, but this will eliminate the latch from ever getting in the way.
Another solution you could try is installing the S hooks from the Gorilla-Lift higher up on the trailer ramp when it is in a stored position. There could possibly be some adjusting that you will need to do to the Gorilla-Lift if this causes the cables to apply too much force to the ramp.
