Charging Trailer Breakaway Battery and Winch Battery When Towing

Question:

I just purchased a new enclosed trailer which has a breakaway battery for the electric brakes, but this battery also powers up interior LED lights inside the trailer as well. I am about to install a winch I will purchase from you guys a 4400 lb BullDog winch and will also get a battery box and a battery to use inside the trailer for both the winch as well as additional LED lighting I am planning. Question is this? Can I use my F250s 2002 Powerstroke SuperDuty alternator to charge when connected to the trailer 7 pin pigtail of course both the breakaway brake battery as well as my new full size winch and aux battery? What should the wiring look like for this set up? Thanks in advance!

The 12 volt accessory circuit of a 7-way can really only put a maintenance charge on a trailer battery that's large enough to power a winch and lights. What I would recommend is keep the breakaway battery charge setup through the 7-way since it's small enough to charge better and then for the winch battery use the winch charge kit part # BDW20206 which gives you 20 feet of 2 gauge wire that will run from the vehicle battery to the rear of the vehicle where it stops at a quick disconnect and then gives you another quick disconnect to attach from the trailer to the battery. This will be a heavy enough gauge to actually put a solid charge on the battery.
