Wiring Kit to Charge Trailer Battery that Powers Winch on Car Hauler
Question:
How do I hook the battery for the winch on my car trailer to the tow vehicle to keep the battery charged? Does the battery need to be grounded to the frame of the trailer before running a wire to the positive terminal from the 7 pin connector?

Since winches draw quite a bit of amperage you'll need a winch wiring kit that uses heavy gauge wires to keep your trailer battery charged. On the trailer side you'd want the 7-1/2 foot long wiring kit part # BDW20347 which uses 1 gauge wire and then on the vehicle side the # BDW20348 which is 24 feet and would run all the way up to the vehicle battery.
The wiring of the battery and the winch does not need to run to the frame of the trailer.
