What Could Cause Lippert Tread Lite Steps to Be Stuck In Extend Position

Question:

Are you able to tell me what the lever brake on/off is used for on these steps? I have these exact steps on my 2018 Coachmen Mirada 35BH. My steps are currently inoperable and are stuck in the outfoot position. I moved the lever to brake offfoot in the hopes that my steps would manually retract at least but that did not work. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix my steps or at least get them to manually retract so I can drive the RV? Also, what is the warranty on these steps? As said previously, my motorhome is only a year and a half old. It has not been used much and I find it very disturbing that my steps have already malfunctioned. Thank you for your time.

The warranty on the steps is 1 year. I actually am in the process of getting the replacement motor for this kit on our site but am waiting on pricing info based on your previous question. It could be the sensors on the door of your RV that's either failed or fallen off. You might check there to verify that the magnets are there and working properly. These sensors basically are what tells the steps your door is open or closed and needs to retract or extend. Since the step is stuck in the out position and the magnets being near each other is what tells the steps to retract it's very possible your magnets aren't getting close to each other for some reason.
