Motor Clicking on Tread Lite Electric Double Steps

Question:

I have tread lite double steps on my RV and the steps open up when I open the door, but they will not lock in place, motor runs for about 10 seconds like it is trying to lock, makes a clicking sound, but it never does lock. When I shut the door, the steps close back up like they normally would.

Helpful Expert Reply:

A clicking motor on your Tread Lite Electric Double Steps # LC353543 or # LC353621 is indicative there is an issue with the motor not sensing the proper amperage at the end of the extension cycle, which is what tells it to shut off when it is finished extending.

So the best option is going to be to replace the motor with the Replacement Motor for Lippert Tread Lite Powered RV Steps # LC183058.

I have added a link below to a video review for you to check out as well if you'd like to take a look.
