RV Steps Troubleshooting Where Module and Wiring Is Good

Question:

I have tested the motor with a jumper wire and works in both directions. When hooked up the brake makes a clicking noise and it will move about an inch. Also the brake will not move from on and off position(currently on position). Can I order just the brake and or does new motor include the brake. The controller was melted so I was certain that was the problem at first. With buying the motor if needed, it would have been cheaper to replace entire step. Please advise. Thank you! Sounds like the motor is bad then if the module and wiring is good. If the steps you have are the Lippert Tread Lites like part # LC353543 that you referenced the correct replacement motor would then be the # LC183058. If you have something else let me know and I'll see what you'd need.

You do need a new motor with the # LC183058 based on what you described. This will take care of the issue and would replace all the remaining bad components that could have been damaged in the short.
