Determining if Dexter Trailer Axle # 35545I-EZ-89 Will Allow for Frame Clearance with Trailer Tires

Question:

My trailer is 75 in wide. Will the wheels and everything fit outside of the frame without me making any modifications to the frame?

There are a few variables to consider when determining if the Dexter Trailer Axle # 35545I-EZ-89 you referenced will fit your trailer and allow for proper clearance between the wheels and frame. It will depend on if the 75 inch frame width you mentioned is its overall width (with any overhang from the bed) as well as what sized tires you plan on running.

I first recommend just making sure that the 74 inch spring seat length on this particular axle matches your existing unit. Then when determining wheel clearance we can go by the axle's 89 inch hub face dimension, which refers to the distance from the base of one wheel stud to the base of the other. This essentially marks the center of the wheel on each side assuming your wheels have a 0 offset.

We can use the ST205/75R15 tire size like the Taskmaster Provider # TR20515D on the Dexstar Wheel # AM20422. This means when it's mounted to the hubs on the above Dexter axle, 4 inches (half) will be extending towards the center of the axle which means that the inside of the tire should sit about 3 inches away from the frame on each side (using your 75 inch frame width).

We recommend at least 2 inches of clearance between the tire and frame so in this scenario you would be good to go.

If you can tell me what size tire you are using and if the 75 inch frame width you mentioned refers to the total width of your trailer I will be happy to verify that everything will work on your trailer or offer another recommendation.
