Estimate of How Long it Takes to Install Trailer Hitch and Wiring on 2017 Ford Transit T250
Question:
Hi I am just looking for a ballpark estimate on how long it should take a professional to install a tow hitch and wiring on a Ford Transit 250 high roof and 147 wheelbase. I read another post from you where it says a professional can do it in about 15 minutes and a DIY guy could do it in half an hour. Didn't know if the model of car would drastically change the time required. Thanks for any information you can provide.

The model of vehicle does impact the time it takes to install a trailer hitch and wiring, although for a 2017 Ford Transit T250 a decent ballpark estimate is 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
The good news is there is a very simple to install trailer hitch for a '17 Ford Transit T250 Cargo Van or Passenger Wagon so this will take the least amount of time.
The etrailer.com Trailer Hitch # E98842 can be put installed in roughly 30 minutes for an everyday DIYer; it does not require any drilling to install which saves a lot of time and you will simply raise it into position and use self-tapping bolts to secure it to your van. This is a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver, 6,000 lb towing capacity and 900 lb tongue weight capacity; it is made in the USA and comes with a lifetime warranty.
In regards to trailer wiring on a 2017 Ford Transit T250 without the factory tow package the correct wiring harness is the Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56327.
This will likely take a bit longer to install than the hitch, but will vary depending on your comfort level and wiring experience; you will need to remove your tail lights and route a wire to your van's battery so you will be working with the full length of the van. It can likely be done in around an hour or a bit more, give or take.
I have added links to the installation instructions of Trailer Hitch # E98842 and Wiring Harness # C56327 for you to check out, and added installation videos of both parts on a Ford Transit T250 as well which should give you a really good idea of the process and how long it may take you.
