Does Tongue Weight Need to be Factored After Weight Distribution System is Installed and Setup

Question:

I have a 28inch Airstream Flying Cloud with a loaded weight capacity of 7600lbs. I use a Ford F-250 as a TV with a Blue OX WD hitch. Is it correct for me to assume that as long as the hitch tension bars are adjusted for a level trailer towing position, the WD hitch system will compensate for the tongue weight ? Or should I install a weigh safe hitch scale?

If you have a properly rated and setup weight distribution system installed on your towing setup like you mentioned and you are under the towing capacity for the vehicle you do not need to worry about the tongue weight figure. Also, a tongue weight scale is not compatible with any of the systems we have and would not be accurate either due to the spring bar tension.

I am looking to purchase a travel trailer that has a Max weight of 9000 lbs and the max tow capacity of my TV is 9,300 lbs. The hitch weight of the trailer is 970 lbs but the max hitch weight of the TV is 930 psi. Will a WDH aid in distributing the extra 40 lbs to the front axle of the TV?

Technically speaking a weight distribution system will take some of that hitch weight off the rear axle of your tow vehicle. I can't say how much exactly, but likely enough to put you under the vehicle's limits. It's also important to verify what that 970 pound hitch weight actually refers to - is thatwith the trailer loaded or empty? If it's empty then I don't recommend pulling this size trailer with your vehicle. If that's the max loaded tongue weight, then there's a really good chance you'll actually be under that weight. Regardless, if you're looking for a WD recommendation I think the Equal-i-zer # EQ37120ET will work perfectly.
