Which Equal-I-Zer Weight Distribution System is Ideal for 7,500 GVWR Jayco White Hawk 282 DSBH

Question:

I recently purchased a Jayco White Hawk 282 DSBH that has a GVWR of 7500 lbs. Dry hitch weight is 640 lbs. I will be pulling it with a F150 3.5L. I already have an equilizer rated for 1200 lbs tongue weight. Im concerned that this might be too much. I am better off with the 1000 lb system or is the 1200 lb system right where I need to be?

Your 1,200 lb Equalizer part # EQ37120ET has a tongue weight range of 800 - 1,200 lbs. So if your dry tongue weight is what you'd be towing with then yes you do have a higher rated system than ideal. You'll have a pretty harsh ride.

If when you are loaded your tongue weight is up above 800 lbs (which wouldn't be too hard to do) then the system would be about right.

Otherwise the part # EQ37100ET would be the better choice. It will reduce the sag without causing a harsher ride like what an overrated system will do.

Ideally you want the tongue weight to fall right in the middle of the range of the system. Plus you have to consider the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle as tongue weight.
