Equalizer Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2017 Jayco 28RLS

Question:

Im looking to purchase the Equalizer weight distribution, 4 point sway control hitch kit. I have a 2017 F250 and a 2017 Jayco 28RLS, the trailer has a 700 dry tongue weight with GVW of 8750. The EQ37100ET has a rating of 600-1000 and the EQ37120ET 800-1200 for tongue rate. I was thinking about purchasing the heavier kit in case I get a bigger trailer in the future but dont know what the min tongue rating means. Would either work with my current trailer or do I need the smaller kit due to the Jayco tongue weight, thank you

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

So based on that you would want the higher rated system as your tongue weight is going to be high enough that it should fall right in the middle of the # EQ37120ET when loaded. Typically tongue weight is 10 to 15 percent of total trailer weight.
