How to Determine Fitment of 5th Wheel Hitch and Toolbox in 6-3/4 Bed of 2017 Ford F-250

Question:

Hello, Am I able to fit a tool box and a regular fifth wheel in a 2017 f250 lariat bed? It has the normal 6.75 foot long bed.

I can help you figure out if you can fit a toolbox in the bed of your 2017 Ford F-250 with a 5th wheel hitch installed but right off-hand I'm not sure.

One of the most popular 5th wheel hitches we have on our site is the B&W Companion which is due to the 1" thick locking jaws, cam-action latching handle for ease of use, and the fact that it is made in the USA. I'll go ahead and use measurements for this setup although it can vary if you already have a 5th wheel hitch.

If you have the OEM puck system, which is the same as the Reese # RP87FR, installed on your F-250 then you will be using the Companion # BWRVK3370 which sits 8-11/32" out from the pucks closest to your cab. If you don't have the OEM pucks on your Super Duty then I recommend installing the B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1116 and using the Companion # BWRVK3400. Going this route will put the head of the Companion 60-1/2" from the rear of your truck bed.

You can use these measurements to determine if a standard toolbox with a width of 19-3/4", like part # UWS06205, will fit or if you can possibly use a narrower toolbox like the part # UWS07044 which measures 12" wide. If a standard toolbox isn't compatible (especially with the 5" - 6" clearance required on top of the rails - see attached photo) we also have the UWS Truck Bed Toolbox # UWS01042 designed specifically for 5th wheel towing.
