Andersen Vs. B and W Companion For 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty Without OEM Prep Package

Question:

Im looking to install a hitch in a 2019 f250 4wd with 6 3/4 foot bed. I am thinking of installing a underbed BW gooseneck and then figure out best solution to hook up to my 5th wheel. I like idea of not having rails in the truck when hitch is removed. What I thought best would be to install the gooseneck hitch and then buy the Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch gooseneck verion, but etrailer doesnt offer that version. Only the version for rails. Why does etrailer not offer the gooseneck version? What would you recommend? I like idea of Andersen because its lite and offsets a few inches that would allow me to not need a slider. Thanks

The B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch w/ Custom Installation Kit part # BWGNRK1116 is a great option for an under bed kit for the 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty short bed and will work well with the Andersen Ultimate Connection that attaches to the gooseneck ball. I do not have any specific information on why we do not carry this version of the Andersen but I do know they are compatible although probably not the best option when it's comes to durability.

I recommend to use the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider part # BWRVK3400-5W and rails part # BWGNRK1116-5W with the short bed truck to avoid turning clearance issues when you're towing the fifth wheel. It is possible to remove the fifth wheel hitch from the bed when not in use although it is much heavier than the Andersen, the B and W breaks down into manageable pieces. The Andersen may be light weight but it doesn't have the quality advantage over the B and W brand because B and W is considered one of the strongest most reliable fifth wheel hitch brands in the US.

The locking jaw of the Companion is going to give you a better more comfortable ride because of the 1" thick dual jaw which provides full contact with the King pin. There won't be as much rattling or chucking when you tow with the Companion. The slider will give you 12" of travel that you need to make sharp turns and the adjustable height of the Companion will help with bed rail clearance with the fifth wheel overhang. I do think in the long run you will be happier with the slider.
