No Trailer Backup Lights on a 2016 Ram 3500
Question:
Why does the backup lights on my truck work but not the trailer 16 Ram 3500
asked by: James M
Expert Reply:
The backup lights on your vehicle have nothing to do with the backup lights for your trailer as they are on an entirely different circuit. I first recommend you check the center pin on the vehicle side 7-way with a test light while the vehicle is in reverse. If you don't have power here then there is most likely a blown fuse. The trailer tow backup light fuse on your 2016 Ram 3500 is located in the power distribution center (PDC), F28 cavity which is a blue 20 amp fuse.
If you do have power on the center pin then you have any issue with the trailer's wiring most likely. Therefore, you will need to start at the trailer side connector and work your way back on the backup circuit until you find a break.
