The 5th wheel towing capacity of your 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 will vary from 6,500 lbs to 7,200 lbs depending on cab configuration, bed length, and drive type. If you can provide me with these three additional metrics then I would be glad to give you an exact weight capacity but otherwise you will need to take a look in your owner's manual starting on page 4-58. Please note that there is not a separate 5th wheel towing capacity for your truck like there are for some of the newer trucks. The 5th wheel towing capacity for your truck will be the same as the "Maximum Trailer Weight" listed in the owner's manual.
In order to tow a 5th wheel trailer with your truck I recommend using the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30051 if you have the 6-1/2' bed or the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30047 if you have an 8' bed along with the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit part # RP30035. The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch is a good starter hitch because it has a pivoting head that will allow for you to couple the trailer on unlevel ground. It is also fairly easy to use and has a ten year warranty so if anything were to happen you would be covered.
