How to Loosen Base of B&W Companion Hitch BWRVK3600 from Factory Pucks

Question:

Recently had this hitch installed on my 2017 ram 3500. We are moving and need to get it out so we can use the truck. I removed the coupler and tried to remove the base but it will not budge. All the base locking handles move freely and are in the open position. Am I missing something?

If the base locking handles of your B&W Companion hitch for Ram trucks # BWRVK3600 are in the unlocked position (facing outward away from the center of the bed) and the base will not release from the Ram's mounting pucks this may be due to a build up of grit or dirt.

You can try spraying in an aerosol penetrating lubricant like PB Blaster or WD-40 and allow it soak in for a while. This can help loosen up any foreign material that may be causing the sticking. You can also loosen the two hex bolts around each locking handle which will reduce the tension on the entire locking arm mechanism. Loosening the hex nuts will also make it easier for the lubricant to get in and do its work.
