Will Fixed B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch Fit 2017 Ram 2500 Puck System With Short Bed

Description states hitch is for 8 ft bed. Will it also work in 6.5 bed? Also, my present rv is 9000 lbs. With hopefully an upgrade to max 14000 lb in the future. Is a 25000 lb hitch overkill?

The puck spacing is the same on the 8 foot long bed as well as the 6-1/2 foot short bed of your 2017 Ram 2500, so yes, the fixed B&W Companion will fit your 2017 Ram 2500 short bed with the puck system; the correct part is the following:
- B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3600
In regards to if its overkill, its 25,000 lb capacity may be quite a bit more than needed, but the fact is the Companion # BWRVK3600 is such high quality that I would recommend going with it even though it is more capacity than your 5th wheel.
Other 5th wheel hitches with a lesser capacity will do the job of pulling your 5th wheel trailer from here to there, but the Companion is constructed to ensure you have the best possible ride; it has a massive jaw system, cushioned bushings, and a pivoting head, all of which combine to give you the most comfortable and quiet towing experience possible with your 2017 Ram 2500.
