4-Pole Wishbone Harness for Running Light Connection

Question:

Doe the brown wire have to run to both of the rear lights? If so, do you have to tap into the brown wire near the rear of the trailer to run the brown wire to the second rear light?

Connecting the brown running light wire in standard 4-pole wiring to both tail lights will require a jumper wire from one side of the trailer to the other, or you can install what's called a wishbone harness that has dual brown running light wires, one for each side of the trailer.

We have several of these trailer-side 4-pole wishbones, such as 40-foot # A40W42B, 35-foot # A35W42B, 25-foot # A10-4225VP and 20-foot # A20WB.

I do recommend using a wishbone harness instead of a spliced jumper connection because avoiding splices usually means better reliability. Be sure to make your ground wire ring terminal connection to a clean bare metal spot on the trailer frame.

I also recommend applying dielectric grease # 11755 to both vehicle and trailer connectors, your grounding point, as well as on your light's bulb sockets. The grease blocks moisture and other contaminants from causing corrosion on these surfaces for more reliable operation.
