Roof Rack for a 2015 Ford Explorer and a 2014 Ford Escape with Raised Side Rails
Question:
We own, Ford 2015 Explorer XLT and Ford 2014 Escape, both having the factory raised side rails, write up shows that this will fit both - correct? Now, will BOTH moon roofs have enough space to remain operable?

Correct, the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack part # MPG216 will fit both your 2015 Ford Explorer XLT and your 2014 Ford Escape. The mounting feet can be slid back and forth along the crossbar to accept different roof widths. If you have a true moonroof that means the glass panel will slide in between the roof and headliner therefore there will be not issues with the crossbars. However, if you have a sunroof in which the glass panel slides over the top of the roof which is what I think you have then it may work without interfering with the crossbars but roof rack manufacturers do not test for this so there would be no way to give a definite yes or no answer. Also, the noise that will be created as a result of having the sun/moonroof open while the crossbars are installed would be almost unbearable.
I have attached a review video of the system installed on both an Explorer and Escape for you as well.
