Troubleshooting Curt TriFlex Brake Controller that Flashes L.6

Question:

Still having issues with the controller flashing numbers etc. when it wants to when the key is off. I have probably unplugged it at least 5 times in the last week. It would stop blinking, come back on again in a few hours or the next morning. It has a mind of its own ! This time its been usually the output setting.

L.6 is the sensitivity setting your Curt Triflex # C24VV currently has. It has a sensitivity range between L.1 through L.9. Since Curt controllers are known to be a bit buggy this isn't super surprising that you are seeing this. What Curt would recommend is to unplug the controller for a few seconds to let it reset and then plug it back in. Normally this takes care of strange behavior like this.

If unplugging it and plugging it back in fixes it temporarily then the controller has an internal problem and needs to be replaced. If it makes no difference there's a good chance you have a short between the red wire of the controller and a 12 volt power source. This would cause the controller to think that you are pressing the brakes and to start applying the trailer brakes. I also attached help article that covers troubleshooting brake controllers for you to check out as well.
