Base Rails and Brackets Needed to Mount Demco FWH-24P SL 21 Hitch on 1969 Ford F-250

Question:

I have a 1969 Ford F-250 2wd 5.9L with a full size bed, and my hitch is an older Demco FWH-24P SL 21 Hijacker. The truck bed is virgin and has never had a hitch on it. I’d like to install a universal rail kit so I can upgrade to a different hitch later on when I’m ready. Will the rails fit the Demco, and will the brackets fit the truck? Thanks and God bless

For your older Demco FWH-24P SL 21 Hijacker the correct base rails are the SL Series # DM6012. These base rails are unique to the SL Series hitches like what you have and they will run vertical along the truck bed (as opposed to horizontally across like most do).

I called my contact at Demco to find the correct mounting brackets you need to install the rails on your 1969 Ford F-250. He stated that you will need to use the Custom Mounting Brackets # DM8553003. He said that these will fit the frame on your F-250 but you may just need to move them forward or back an inch or two from the install instructions to get them to line up with the existing holes on the frame.

For a kit that includes both the above-mentioned SL Rails and the needed mounting brackets you can use part # DM8553003-12.

This is everything you will need to be able to mount your existing hitch to your 1969 Ford F-250.
