Trailer Hitch and Wiring Harness for 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Towing Utility Trailer
Question:
We have a 2018 Traverse with the rear AC unit. We need a hitch and wiring harness for a small utility trailer. The trailer uses the flat kind of plug with 4 wires.

Your 2018 Traverse can be fitted with a 2-inch trailer hitch receiver.
We offer two such options, both are USA-made options. We have a model from Curt, # CU29FR and one etrailer model, # e56YR. Both have the same weight ratings and both are rated at a 10 out of 10 difficulty rating to install. They are both completely hidden when not in use. The main distinguishing factor is that the etrailer # e56YR has a matte black finish that is said to be a little more durable than the glossy finish of the # CU29FR. These are both great hitches and you can't go wrong with either of them. I have attached install videos of both hitches to help you make a choice between the two.
For a 4-pole flat type wiring harness I recommend # 118761 from Tekonsha because in our experience their wiring products have proven to be the most reliable. This harness simply plugs in under the vehicle on the driver's side, as shown in the linked video.
Towing your utility trailer will also require a ball mount with a hitch ball of the size required by your trailer coupler (most likely a 1-7/8-inch size). You can use our kit # 989891 which includes a ball mount, two sizes of hitch balls, and a pin and clip to secure the ball mount in your hitch.
