Can a 4-Way to 7-Way Trailer Wiring Adapter be Installed Just for Lighting Functions on a Trailer
Question:
I have wiring already installed i have a 4 way female plug on a 2007 GMC Acadia can i just connect this into that four way plug without using the other wires? Trailer doesnt have brakes, just needs to illuminate the lights with a seven blade connector.

Yes, you can just plug in the 4-Way from your 2007 GMC Acadia into the Tow Ready Adapter, # 30717, but you will have to ground the white wire on the adapter. It will need to attach to a clean and corrosion free bare metal surface.
If the trailer does not have electric brakes, it makes me wonder why it has a 7-Way. If it has items on it that require 12 volt power you would need to connect the black wire on the adapter to the vehicle battery via a 40 amp circuit breaker, # PK54540, and about 25 feet of # 10-1-1 wire.
If the trailer has reverse lights you would want to function, you would have to connect the yellow wire to a reverse light wire on the vehicle.
