How to Install a Brake Controller and 7-Way on a 2015 Dodge Durango Limited
Question:
I just bought the above vehicle. It does not have the OEM tow package, but does have an aftermarket hitch installed with a flat 4 plug. I have a Tekonsha brake controller from my old vehicle, and want to use it and convert the flat 4 to a 7 pin round so I can use my trailers electric brakes. What is needed to do this, and how difficult an install am I looking at? Thanks!

The best option I have for you to install both a 7-way trailer connector and a brake controller on your 2015 Dodge Durango Limited is with the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness w Brake Controller Adapter part # TK22113. This harness will actually replace the 4-way you have now and provide you with everything you need for the above two components. It will require very minimal splicing and it even has a plug in port for your Tekonsha brake controller. There are few vehicles that have the option to add a 7-way without extensive splicing but this is one of them while using the above harness.
The installation process requires common tools such as a phillips head screwdriver, wire cutters, circuit tester, wire crimpers, and basic socket set. It will be challenging from some and simple for others, it all just depends on skill level but if you take a look at the attached instructions it should give you a good idea of whether or not you will feel comfortable installing the harness on your own.
