Where to Place the Axle on a 4 Foot Long Trailer

Question:

Hello, I am looking to build a small box trailer, approximately 49inch high, 49inch long and 32inch wide. I want to know where the best placement of the axle would be. I plan on using a torflex axle 22.5° up with an overall axle width not much wider than the trailer itself. Gross weight i hope to be about 500-600 lbs. weight should be pretty evenly distributed. Any suggestions for best axle placement? Thanks

The correct placement for a trailer axle is going to be dependant on the length of the trailer and total weight when loaded. You are first going to want to pick a spot where you think the axle needs to be which is usually about 3/4 of the way back. You will then use a formula which you can see in the attached help article to make adjustments forward or backward until the correct location is found.

Please take a look at the attached help article and then let me know if you need any clarifications or help with the formula. Also, if you need any parts for your trailer please let me know what they are or you can take a look at the trailer tab I have attached which shows a lot of our selection.
