Best Way to Carry Kayaks with a 2019 Hyundai Kona

Question:

Hi! I want to buy a hyundai kona electric 2019. For all Kona vehicles, the company doesnt want to install a hitch. I want to tow two kayaks so its not heavy. What do you think? I dont want to lose de warranty... Is it differtent for the EV model than the regular kona?

I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2019 Hyundai Kona and you are correct that they do not recommend towing a trailer with this vehicle, even if it is the EV model. Although the word "recommend" hints that you still can, I wouldn't do so as Hyundai has tested the limits of the vehicle and they don't think it is wise to tow a trailer.

We actually do have another option for you to carry some kayaks with a roof rack. I recommend using the Thule AeroBlade roof rack to do so. This consists of the Load Bars # TH711200 as well as the Podium Foot Pack # TH460R, and the Fit Kit # THKIT4089. You can use the lock core kit # TH450400 to lock your roof rack. This roof rack has a weight capacity of 165 lbs but you will need to check the weight rating of your roof and go with the lower of the two.

Then for a kayak carrier you can use the Thule Stacker # TH830. The Stacker allows you to carry up to 4 kayaks that are no longer than 10 feet (roof rack and roof weight ratings permitting).

I have attached some review videos that you can reference.

The Thule Stacker # TH830 does include bow/stern tie-downs as well.
