Upgrading from 4.80/4.00-8 to 5.70-8 Tires on a PWC Trailer

Question:

Hello. I have a trailer that I want to use for a pwc. The tires on it now are 4.80/4.00x8. The pwc dry weight is 771lbs. Should I go to 5.70x8 or are these ok? I believe they are load rating c. Also, what ply would you recommend? Thank you.

Helpful Expert Reply:

The 4.80/4.00-8 trailer tires you have now with a load range C rating should have a 745 lb (per tire) rating which should be more than sufficient for your personal watercraft trailer. You can however upgrade to a Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire like part # AM10012 which has a load range C rating of 910 lbs (per tire) but please keep in mind that these tires will be about 1.2" wider and 1.9" taller than the tires you have now. This will in turn give you more grip but the increased weight capacity is not really needed.

I have attached a review video for you.
