Will Reese Elite Series Legs Work With Curt Q25 Fifth Wheel Hitch Head

Question:

Making Stuff Work - I have a Super Silly question, I have recently installed a Reese DRT30868 Elite Series 5th Wheel Rail Kit for GM HD in my truck but I bough a Curt Q25 5th Wheel Hitch Head and a Curt Puck System 5th Wheel Legs for GM and imagine my surprise when I find out that the Reese and Curt systems dont get along, and Ive been spending all night trying to figure out a solution. And I think I might have figured out a work around but Im not able to get actual measurements to see if it will work. Could I use the base arches from a Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch on the Q25 to make it work? Or am I just up a particularly smelly creek without a paddle?

I wouldn't call that a silly question at all, I'd call it perfectly reasonable but unfortunately the answer is no, the legs from a Reese Elite Series are not compatible with a Curt Q25.

Since you already have the underbed rails # RP30868 in your 2018 Chevy Silverado 2500, and since the legs you have for the Curt hitch only works for the factory prep package, your best option really is to use the Reese M5 Series # RP30921 or # RP30922 fifth wheel hitch.

This way you only have to get a new hitch instead of uninstalling your current rails, installing new rails and also getting a new hitch. So I guess the creek you're in depends on your point of view, right? People make mistakes but at the end of the day you'll wind up with a top-of-the line fifth wheel hitch and underbed rails in your truck!
