Recommended Trailer Hitch, Gooseneck Hitch, and Sway Control for 2007 Ram 3500 Flatbed Chassis

Question:

Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate it. Our flat bed truck does not have anything to weld suggested gooseneck hitch to, it is made of aluminum… Do you have any other solution? I think it needs to be a bolt on kit. I have now done some measurements: I look like the frame is straight and flat, similar to other chassis trucks. I have attached a sketch of the frame, POV is straight from the back. Best regards

For your 2007 Dodge RAM 3500 HD Flat Bed Crew Cab with dually chassis there is not a B&W trailer hitch receiver available. Instead, I recommend you use the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class IV - 2" # 41936 rated for 1,200 lbs tongue weight or 12,000 lbs towing. If you need a stronger receiver or one that can use weight distribution, I recommend the Draw Tite Class V # 41947 rated for 15,000 lbs towing without weight distribution or 16,000 lbs towing with weight distribution and a tongue weight rating of 1,600 lbs.

Then for your ball mount and hitch ball I recommend the Convert-A-Ball Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 1" Rise, 2" Drop - 14,000 lbs # AMSC2HD which has the polyurethane interior that acts as a shock absorber. Then for your 50 mm hitch ball I recommend the Brophy 50mm Hitch Ball - 1" Diameter x 2-1/8" Long Shank - Chrome - 8K # EH53C-C along with the Hitch Ball Bushing - 1-1/4" to 1" # 58184.

For your gooseneck hitch with 2-5/16 inch ball, I recommend the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Flatbed Trucks - 30,000 lbs # BWGNRK1500. This gooseneck hitch needs to be welded in place. I've attached the installation instructions to assist.

The Tuson Electronic Sway Control System for Electric Trailer Brakes - 1 to 4 Axles # 335TSC-1000 will help a gooseneck trailer that is experiencing sway by applying the electric trailer brakes on that trailer side to side as needed to correct sway. It continuously monitors trailer angle, movement, speed, and other parameters for real-time braking calculations.

Thanks for the additional information. You are correct that for your aluminum flatbed the # BWGNRK1500 will not work due to the dissimilar metals. I reached out to my tech contact at B&W to see if there was another option for your vehicle and they said you will need to fabricate the mounts to your frame but then you can use the center section # BWGNRC800. This is going to be the best option for your unique situation.
