Ladder Rack Needed to Carry a Canoe with a 2013 Ram 1500 with BAKFlip G2 Tonneau Cover

Question:

Hi: I just bought a 2013 Ram 1500 crew cab short box with a Bakflip G2 tonneau cover. Im trying to figure out how best to carry my canoe. I cant tie up the hitch because I need to also pull a trailer. Are there truck racks that are compatible? Ive seen TracRac SR mentioned for other trucks - would that work? What about the racks from BakFlip I dont know if you carry those? Any other suggestions? Thanks

Since the BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover, part # BAK26207 or # BAK26203 , mounts inside the bed rails of your 2013 Ram 1500 you definitely can install the TracRac SR! This is one of the best ladder racks out there and will do a great job for hauling your canoe as well as other equipment you may need.

As long as your Ram doesn't have the RamBox then you can use part # TH43003XT-784 for a 5-1/2' bed or part # TH43003XT-501 for a 6-1/2' bed. If you are wanting the over-the-cab extension then go with part # TH43003XT-784EX or # TH43003XT-501EX respectively.

You will need to make sure that you don't have to put anything towards the front of your bed or get anything out of the front of your bed once you have the canoe on the rack. Since the uprights of the TracRac SR are at an angle you do need to move them around a little to operate your folding tonneau cover.

To secure your canoe you will at least need a kit like part # TH855XT, but some people also prefer to use pads like part # TH845000 or a carrier like # LR54FR for a more secure fit.
