How Do You Know if etrailer Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack was Over Extended

Question:

In reply to your previous answer: if the jack doesnt tell you if it is over extended, how are you supposed to know??!! As I said previously, it does work with the crank. If it was over extended, what are our options??

The only way you would really know is that the jack would start to slow down, the motor would make more noise, it may shake or do some other odd behavior.

The first thing I would do is try connecting power directly to a separate 12 volt battery with enough amperage to operate the jack. If it starts working then the issue was the battery it is connected to. If it does not you can check the in line fuse. It is located in the power cable up near the jack's head. If that fuse is blown the jack will not operate. You would likely be able to get that fuse locally from an auto parts store.

If the fuse is good then there could be a ground issue. This jack grounds through the mounting hardware so if there is corrosion between the jack and the trailer it can interrupt the ground and cause the jack to not function or work intermittently.
