Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Shows ".C" with No Trailer Connected
Question:
My Prodigy P2 stays engaged even though I am not towing, in other words, it shows the same display as if I were including braking display. Also, when I am towing, when I release the brake pedal the system does not fully disengage the trailer’s electronic brake.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885 should display "n.c." when there is no trailer connected and ".c" when there is a trailer connected. If the controller shows ".c" when there is no trailer connected then there is a short on the blue brake output wire that runs from the brake controller back to the brake magnets. You will need to trace this wire back while paying special attention to the trailer connector pins and repair as needed. Sometimes, if the short cannot be found then it is best to just run a new wire with part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot.
The other symptom that you mentioned is also a sign that there is a short on the blue brake output wire so you will want to perform the above and then get back with me on what you find.
