Degree of Tolerance for Curt Trailer Hitches

Question:

I have a 2006 Ram 3500 with a Curt 15573 hitch purchased from etrailer. The hitch is about 7 years old. The 2inch opening and the hitch pin hole have become enlarged to the point that there is excessive slop. I measured the 2inch opening to be 2.125 inch while the stock receiver is 2.050 inch. I am considering the C15409 as a replacement. What does the 2inch opening measure? I feel that the 15573 may have had a larger 2inch opening than stock when new. Thanks

When it comes to square tubing, there is always going to be a degree of tolerance even with the most precision manufacturing. The tolerance of the Curt trailer hitch receivers such as the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C15409 is around .050" which means the opening can be anywhere between 2.070" and 2.115". With that being said it is always possible for the hitch pin hole or receiver tube opening to deform slightly after extended use near the capacity but the above hitch has a Class V XD rating which means it is top of the line in regards to strength.
