Recommended Wiring Harness for a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder and Prodigy P3 Brake Controller

Question:

etrailer Team, I just installed the 75077 Draw-Tite hitch and C55361 Curt Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector on my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. I like what Im reading about the Prodigy P3 brake controller, but I dont want to needlessly install the ETBC7 wiring harness if its possible that my 2001 Pathfinder has any pre-wiring for trailers do you know if 2001 Pathfinders ever came with pre-wiring for trailers and how I can confirm if my Pathfinder has pre-wiring? Would there be an advantage to getting an OEM/factory trailer wiring harness for a 2001 Pathfinder? is such a thing available? My wife and I are looking at buying a smaller/light travel trailer =20foot length, ~3500 lbs GVWR, and Im working to understand how best to outfit our 2001 Pathfinder to two such a trailer any additional advice/guidance you can give me would be greatly appreciated. For example, do I need to add a transmission cooler or anything else? Thank you. Mark

On your 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, there are not wires pre-run for you to utilize for a brake controller. There is not a custom wiring harness for the 2001 Pathfinder available as none of the models in that year came with a factory tow package wiring.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is a great option for your brake controller. You will need to use the Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to connect your 4-way harness # C55361 to your P3 brake controller. This kit will work extremely well for that function. I've attached some videos of this installation on similar vehicles to assist.
