How to Tell if Breakaway System Came On After Pulling Trailer with Breakaway Pin Pulled
Question:
I am following up on Mikes great response to his issues that also happened to me, now i know what the deal is and how to fix it so thanks, the only question i have on it is that i obviously pulled my trailer about 10 miles without this plug in the breakaway device and so my assumption is because of that i was dragging by camper with the breaks locked for several miles is that correct ? there was no smell of viable damage. Regards

If you were dragging the camper you would probably have noticed. The tires would also have flat spots. But if the brakes were worn and not adjusted out then the tires could have kept rolling. The drums though would have been extremely hot and you would likely see discoloration on the armature surface in the drum (the armature surface is where the brake magnet makes contact with the drum).
It is also possible that the breakaway system didn't do anything. That could happen because of a depleted battery or a wiring issue. I have included some helpful links on breakaway systems for you.
